Volunteer With VCAS

At Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS), volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Our mission—to enrich the lives of veterans, their families, and rescue dogs—simply wouldn’t be possible without the time, dedication, and compassion of people like you.

From helping at community events, to supporting our training programs, to fostering rescue dogs as they prepare to be matched with veterans, every volunteer role directly impacts lives. When you give your time, you’re not just helping a dog find a home—you’re helping a veteran rediscover purpose, connection, and healing.

Fostering: A Special Kind of Volunteering

One of the greatest needs we have is for fosters. By opening your home to a rescue dog temporarily, you play a critical role in helping us prepare each dog for placement with a veteran. Fostering allows us to learn about the dog’s personality, strengths, and needs, so we can ensure the best possible match. It also saves lives by making room in shelters for more dogs in need.

Your Impact

  • For veterans: You’re helping provide a companion that brings comfort, structure, and hope.
  • For families: You’re strengthening bonds and creating stability at home.
  • For dogs: You’re giving them a second chance at life in a loving home.
